Here’s how very proper European is to have an egg cup.  Is it "just" an egg cup?  Heavens no! Nothing is "just" one thing.  These little reversible cups can be used for so much more & More: 

• A dip into some strange, new Sorbet with 2 tiny cookies 

• A scoop of ice cream

-Of sloppy sauces, crunchy sprinkle- on toppings

• A Clementine spirally peeled as if hanging out of a Tuscan still-life      
   
• A flower a float  

• Or planted cactus

• A diamond ring or earrings buried in sand or in pretty petals —with a wee fork withwhich to dig for one’s treasure

• A giant strawberry cut into a rose

• Herbs pinched from the garden, or plucked from the cupboard

• Salty nuts, seeds, sweets, or a twig of autumn leaves, not to be believed

• A small Christmas gifty wrapped up like a party

• A clue in a game of riddles

• A note of good news on a scroll  

• Oh! Or, hey!  Use the small cup for an egg cup, or turn it over to empty the soft boiled egg into the larger cup like a poached egg.
